It's almost Valentine's Day, and it’s fun to have classroom activities for Valentine’s Day to get in the spirit! It is a perfect occasion to incorporate fun activities into your French lessons to celebrate love in all its shapes and forms. Below are a few of my resources that I've been using over the years with my core French and French immersion students.
FUN CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES FOR VALENTINE’S DAY
1 - The kindness Jar: The perfect valentine’s day activity
This kindness activity is great if you're looking for a no prep craft for Valentine's Day. Easy and fun! The project makes beautiful decorations for your classroom.
It includes:
- Instructions
- Compliment Jar
- Compliment hearts
- List of Adjectives
Print one jar, one heart sheet (or two) and one vocabulary list per student. Ask your students to write compliments on the little hearts for each other. Then have them glue the compliments on their friends' jars. Students can write full sentences or only adjectives depending on their level of French.
2 - Valentine's Day FRENCH conjugation activity/editable worksheets
These cute Sunday worksheets are perfect to review any French conjugation. You will find 3 different pre-made layouts. You can edit the instructions and pick the verbs/tenses your students will be working on.
3 - Complete the picture & write the story
This is a fun drawing and writing activity. There is no prep and it's easy to use. Students will complete the picture and then write a story to describe it. It's great to review Valentine's Day vocabulary and grammar.
It includes:
-A sheet of Valentine's Day French verbs
-A list of Valentine's Day French vocabulary
-9 pages: Complete the picture & write the story
4 - Virtual Field Trip: Paris des amoureux
Take your students on a virtual field trip to explore the most romantic places in Paris. They will discover amazing French food, stunning art and a few of my favorite nooks.
It includes:

5 - Valentine’s day conversation task cards
These speaking and writing task cards are suitable for French beginner and intermediate levels. They are the perfect way to use pictures to prompt authentic conversation and French vocabulary development.
Speaking in a new language can be very intimidating, but when you do it in a fun and engaging way, students will quickly begin to get over their fear and try to speak.
